María Cecilia Calónico, General Manager

Cecilia is the founder and sole owner of Win & Winnow. After years of working as a freelance linguist and in an agency setting, she founded the company in 2004 and manages overall daily operations.

She holds two specialized linguistic degrees in technical and legal translations as well as a post-graduate teaching degree from the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino in Buenos Aires.

She takes a hands-on approach to her work, and her dedication to quality and creativity is reflected in every aspect of the company.

Lucas Albera, Administration Manager

Lucas is the head of the Administration Department at Win & Winnow. He takes care of a number of office management tasks, ranging from invoicing to payments, contracts and pay orders. The primary contact for suppliers, Lucas ensures that the day-to-day operations of our company run smoothly.

Prior to his arrival at Win & Winnow, Lucas worked for several years at Prudential Life Insurance. He holds a Bachelor´s Degree in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires and has recently completed graduate studies in Politics and Economy at the University of San Martín.

Virginia Decarre, Language Lead

Virginia, our most senior team member, is responsible for overall linguistic quality at Win & Winnow. She is the main point of contact for both internal and external teams regarding linguistic matters and is responsible for the creation and maintenance of glossaries, translation memories and style guides.

Virginia holds a degree in legal translation from the Universidad de Buenos Aires and has many years of experience in providing linguistic services as a freelancer and in an agency setting.

Soledad Mendoza, Project Management Team Lead

As the head of the Win & Winnow production team, Soledad develops effective strategies and solutions for the most complex work we undertake. She boasts significant experience in both translation and project management. 

Soledad holds a degree in literary translation from the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino and has built a career in international localization project management, excelling in handling multilingual projects.

Mariana Sugobono, Production Assistant

Mariana assists our production team in the execution of simultaneous ongoing projects. Her responsibilities include file preparation, quality assurance and project coordination.

Holding degrees in both interpreting and certified translation from the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino, Mariana's background lies largely in freelance work in the industries of law, finance and media.

Ludmila Lococo Benyacar, Production Assistant

Ludmila arrives at Win & Winnow with knowledge and experience in the Argentine language market, having worked in an agency setting for quite some time. Currently completing studies in translation at the Instituto Lenguas Vivas, Ludmila's strongest suits lie in subtitling and project coordination.

Like Mariana, Ludmila is responsible for all-around production support, from organizing projects to performing final quality assurance checks. She also takes on in-house translating and editing work.

Valeria Romero, Technology Lead

Valeria plays an integral role in our production team, especially in terms of technology. She is the point person for technological inquiries and takes on the tasks of training internal and external resources on various tools.

Like Virginia, Valeria holds a degree in legal translations from the Universidad of Buenos Aires. She also possesses a significant amount of expertise in the areas of tourism, marketing and games.

Laura Peirano, Vendor Manager

Laura manages our external team of over 600 vendors around the globe. She strengthens bonds with linguists, engineers and designers and assists project managers in the selection and coordination of the right resources for each and every project. She is also responsible for seeking new vendors and talents on a daily basis, building fruitful professional relationships.

Now wrapping up coursework at the Universidad de Buenos Aires in sworn and certified translation, Laura plans to resume studies in literature next year. Prior to her arrival at Win & Winnow, Laura worked as an in-house interpreter.

Emily Stewart, Business Development Manager

Emily is the head of the Business Development Department at Win & Winnow. Her tasks include sales strategy, business plan design, account management and advertising, and she is the contact point for potential and current partners.  In addition, Emily drives the company presence and image.

A native of the United States, Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature & Society from Columbia University and has a significant background in marketing and copywriting. She also has experience in translation, having completed a bilingual edition of the Argentine epic poem Martín Fierro.

Sarah Wattie, Sales and Marketing Manager

As Sales and Marketing Manager, Sarah is responsible for sales strategy, marketing and defining Win & Winnow's role in the community. Working closely with our Business Development Manager, Sarah is involved in the company presence and image, responsible for print materials and the online content of our website and blog.

Originally from New Zealand, Sarah graduated with a Bachelor in Laws from the Victoria University of Wellington. While interested in social themes and justice, Sarah's work history has drawn her towards marketing and communications. She has always had a strong interest in languages and the possibilities of cross-cultural communication, which is, in short, what brought her to Buenos Aires and to our team.

Ornela Zingoni, Commercial Assistant

When it comes to commercial and administrative activities at Win & Winnow, Ornela is a Jack of all trades. Her role lies in the support of the marketing and sales teams, taking on organizational tasks and coordinating commercial activities. She also manages internal scheduling, meetings, events and travels. 

Ornela is currently undertaking studies in English language education, having previously studied at a local bilingual school. Outside of her work and studies, Ornela is also quite the dancer and leads dance classes in various disciplines regularly.
