Following our strategy to be deeper immersed in the gaming industry, we visited GamesCom 2017 in Cologne, Germany.
Gamescom is Europe’s leading business platform of the games industry and the global event for the gaming culture. It is the best show for games, as well as the central trade and media platform for networking business development, sales, and community in one place.
Devcom is the primary game developers event at Gamescom. Devcom is a prestigious, five-day framework for a series of events focused around game development, game publishing, networking and community building. Industry experts and insiders gather to share their knowledge in the areas of Virtual Reality, Mobile Games, Business and Production, as well as programming, design, audio, diversity, monetization, and eSports. This was a unique opportunity for us to listen and be around the industry trendsetters, discuss potential new business opportunities and create and strengthen alliances and collaborations.
Women in tech
At Win & Winnow we are part of the group of Women in Localization, and support the empowerment of women across all industries. The Women in Tech Day is the annual gathering of women and people supporting women and greater diversification in games, in the creative and tech industries, held during Gamescom. The Women in Tech Day is a common space and forum for women working in all areas of technology including the games industry, IT, digital and other technology industries.
The Tech Industry has a poor record when it comes to gender diversity and given that tech is the future, this must change. The Women in Tech Day’s mission is to inspire women to collaborate on innovative solutions by providing learning and networking opportunities, to open minds to new ideas by pushing boundaries, to promote diversity in technology industries, to advocate technology and to celebrate the female role models who have chosen a career in tech and who inspire others to do the same.
